American
Arts tend to be more eclectic, evolving and less traditional in
format.
A modernized eclectic Martial Art developed directly by Master
Hendrix by combining his favorite aspects of all his training
from not only the styles he currently teaches but also styles
he has trained in the past, as well as techniques and concepts
that he has sought out, researched and developed. The emphasis
is the flowing together of these techniques, drills and principles
toward self-defense. This art has been recognized as a new martial
art system with Master Hendrix as the founder. The style name
is copyrighted and trademarked.
Physical conditioning is also a big part of this class and this
style also teaches weapons early in the curriculum for Self-Defense.
Beginner weapons include: the kubaton and palm stick, and single
baton. Intermediate weapons include: Bo, Jo, and double baton,
single nunchukua, expandable baton. Black Belt weapons include,
single and double knives, single and double machete. Advanced
black weapons include greater detail on all early weapons and
use of the walking cane. All levels will learn to use everyday
objects as self-defense weapons.
This style teaches basic focus drills but is much more geared
toward the external physical movements rather than internal exercises.
Students desiring more internal training should try Traditional
HapKiDo.
The format of this class is traditional in dress and respect but
the atmosphere is more relaxed. The main point of the System is
no nonsense street defense. It is an ever evolving art.
You should avoid this class if the examination of all aspects
of Self-Defense - even the worst scenarios- make you uncomfortable.
This is a fun class but it is not for everyone.
